As the sun rises at our home in Chesapeake, VA I can be found exercising in our ThermoSpa (about four days a week). We purchased an Olympian Executive model on December 31st, 1999 to provide a means to relieve arthritic pain and built muscle tone. Knee surgery four years ago left me with a painful, non-functioning joint. After much study, and consultation with physical therapist, I decided that water exercise would meet my needs.
Initially, we thought the addition to our home of an indoor pool and spa would be ideal – but this was too costly! Next, we tried an exercise club with water facilities, this proved to be too inconvenient! Limited hours of operation (when the pool wasn’t closed for maintenance), a long, painful walk to get to the pool, harsh chemicals that irritated my skin and water temperatures that caused my joints to ache made this option unworkable. I actually felt worse after exercising.
My family began searching for another answer. We believed a therapeutic spa might be right for my situation. After looking into many brands, I decided that aqua therapy in a ThermoSpa was my best hope to maintain a functional life-style. My doctor and also my physical therapist actually prescribed physical therapy adapted to my ThermoSpa. After fifteen months of exercise (which, incidentally, is fun) I feel and function much better.
Previously, I paid a massage therapist to relieve aching joints and muscles. Now, my ThermoSpa gently massages my joints and muscles, providing lasting relief from pain. Warm water temperatures provide soothing physical and emotional relaxation. Exercising in my ThermoSpa has enabled me to build muscle mass that provides support for joints and allows me to perform physical tasks without pain. When I have pain I now have a place to go to get relief.
We placed our ThermoSpa in an enclosed room so that weather could never affect my routine. Our room is filled with lush, healthy plants because of the warm, moist environment which our ThermoSpa provides naturally. Just entering our ThermoSpa room lifts my spirits after a long, tiring day. My family also enjoys our ThermoSpa. My 9 year old daughter even had her 9th birthday party in our spa room with “swimming” in the ThermoSpa as the chief entertainment. Our ThermoSpa has been a great addition to our family.
Does my ThermoSpa benefit my life? Absolutely!
